OPENING OF THE XXI GENERAL CHAPTER

We were fourty two sisters gathered in the name of our Lord. With a simple celebration we invoked the presence of the Holy Spirit  . A beautiful candle was lighted by Sr. Julia Apesteguia, our General Superior. The candle was significantly made by the immigrants from one centre of our sisters at Gijón in the Province of the Mary Immaculate(Spain). A Reading taken from the Acts of the Apostles that relates the event of the Pentecost was read and with that the representatives from all the demarcations were convened.

In a world map, all the sisters coming from different latitudes lighted a small candle and put it on the country where our congregation is present.

At the Capitular Sala we find the flags of the different countries where we are present.  Inspired by the text from  Jn. 12:21 ¨… in Betsaida of Galilee, they came to Philip,and they told him: ¨We want to see Jesus¨.  In the same way  we were invited to present Jesus to the places where we are living.

It was an emotional moment that articulated the identity, the richness of the charism, the intercultural living with our poor brothers and sisters

This celebration has put us in harmony with the theme of the Chapter with the opening remarks delivered by Sr. Julia Apesteguía.  

At the first session the Rules were approved and was followed by elections of the different services and commissions proper for the Chapter. The following were the results:

At the conclusion  of the day we celebrated the Holy Eucharist presided by our Brother Ignacio Calle, the General superior of the Capuchin Tertiary Fathers, who once again invited us to respond as women and allow ourselves to  be moved and be led by the Holy Spirit. 

We, the capitular sisters wish to express our gratitude to all who have encouraged us through their abundant letters and messages sent to us. 

Finally, we thank God for this day and we continue to be united with all of you our sisters, Lay Amigonians, close benefactors and colaborators, children and youth who are with us in the misión. With theHoly Spirit  that unites us, we know that we are all living together this experience of the General Chapter as a passing of God in our present life and in our History as a Congregation.
