Four young women who, despite facing extreme poverty, lack of opportunities, and the threat of forced marriages, now hold not only a diploma in their hands but also the keys to their own future.

Behind every stitch lies a story of perseverance. Behind every diploma lies a story of struggle, hope, and transformation. These are the stories of our four graduates.

Requia: From Vulnerability to Teaching

Requia arrived at the center in 2005 when she was only 15 years old. Having grown up without a father and without access to formal education, she found a home and a refuge with the sisters. Her mother supported her unconditionally every step of the way. Today, the little girl who could neither read nor write has not only graduated as a professional seamstress, but now teaches other girls herself. Requia is living proof that holistic education can change destinies.

Delfina: Gratitude Triumphing Over Poverty

Delfina’s life was marked by severe economic hardship. Having lost her father and with a mother of very limited means, she had no support to help her move forward. The sisters became her main pillar from childhood. Thanks to their constant guidance and care, she now receives her diploma and is prepared to become an active and productive member of society. Her heart overflows with gratitude toward the mission that transformed her life.

Yanatou: Sewing Freedom

At the age of 14, Yanatou’s future seemed already decided: her father intended to force her to marry an older man. In a courageous act, when she met the sisters, Yanatou expressed her deep desire to study. The center welcomed her and protected her from a forced marriage. During these years, she discovered her passion for learning. Today she can read and write, has mastered the craft of sewing, and above all radiates the joy of being the author of her own story.

Zenabou: Awakening Talent and Intelligence

Zenabou arrived at the center in 2023. Although she spent her entire adolescence without the opportunity to attend school, her experience in the workshop proved that talent is not limited by previous disadvantages. Known for her intelligence and dedication to sewing, Zenabou stands out for the quality of her work and her commitment. Filled with gratitude toward the sisters, she graduates today ready to move forward with confidence and to shine with her own light.

These first four graduates leave not only with a profession that will allow them to earn a dignified living; they leave with the ability to read the world and write their own story. Guided by the Capuchin Tertiary Sisters, the Nikki Craft Center once again demonstrates that education and love are the most powerful tools for weaving freedom.

Congratulations to the graduates! And thanks to all the people and organizations whose support makes this important mission possible.

Today marks a beautiful chapter in the history of the Holy Family Women’s Craft Center in Nikki: its first graduating class in sewing.
