On May 11, the Congregation of Capuchin Tertiary Sisters of the Holy Family celebrates the 137 years of its foundation.
To commemorate this event, is to remember with gratitude the cradle of the congregational origins since the year 1885 under the protection of «Our Lady of Montiel», whose Sanctuary is located in the town of Benaguacil, Valencia – Spain.
The foundation of this Congregation arose as a response to the action of the Holy Spirit who, at the time, inspired the young Capuchin Friar Luis Amigó y Ferrer to give birth to it, making it a gift for the Church and a response to the «signs of the times» which, at the time, translated into caring for the most needy brothers and sisters, particularly in hospitals, educational centers, orphanages and missions. The Gospel and the Franciscan-Capuchin spirituality were its reference points to.
Today, as in the past, the Congregation continues to give life and update the Charism received, in fidelity to the Spirit and purpose that saw its birth, open to the new poverty and reality of the people. It is present in four continents and 34 countries.
