August 19, 2026. In an atmosphere marked by gratitude, communion, and profound hope, the VI Extended General Council (CGA) came to a close on August 19, concluding a significant congregational journey that brought the sisters together in prayer, discernment, and the search for new paths for the mission.
The closing day began in an atmosphere of prayerful recollection before the Blessed Sacrament. Eucharistic Adoration, followed by the prayer of Lauds, gave the participants an opportunity to offer heartfelt thanksgiving to God for His faithful presence throughout the history of the Congregation and, in a special way, for His accompaniment during the days of encounter, reflection, and fraternity experienced throughout this VI Extended General Council.
After breakfast, the sisters took part in a session dedicated to Congregational Matters, facilitated by Sr. Blanca Nidia Bedoya Salazar. It was an opportunity to continue looking responsibly toward the present and future of the Congregation in light of all that had been discerned during this time.
At 11:30 a.m., one of the most significant moments of the day brought the participants together once again: the Closing Eucharist. The solemn and deeply moving celebration brought before the altar not only those who had participated directly in the gathering, but also, in a spiritual way, the entire Amigonian charismatic family.
Together with the bread and wine, the challenges, conclusions, dreams, and renewing actions that emerged during these days were presented, so that the decisions and calls of the VI CGA may find concrete expression in each fraternity and in the different places where the Congregation carries out its mission.
The Extended General Council Comes to an End, but the Mission Continues…
The closing did not feel like a final farewell. On the contrary, it was marked by the certainty of being sent forth anew.
During the afternoon, the sisters set out for Bogotá, from where they prepared to return to their respective jurisdictions. In their luggage, they carry much more than documents: they return with the experience of a strengthened fraternity and with the challenge of bringing to life all that they have prayed, listened to, and discerned together.
As they expressed the feelings accompanying them on their return, words rich in meaning emerged: gratitude, fraternity, communion, hope, leadership, proactivity, commitment, synodality, listening, and joy. They also spoke of strength in the Spirit, openness to the grace of God, and the courage needed to take risks in the face of the new challenges of the mission.
For some, these days have been a true “inhabited kairos,” a time of grace in which God’s presence has been deeply experienced through encounter, listening, and the journey shared together.
The participants return strengthened and, above all, with a profound sense of being sent on mission. They return with the impulse of the Spirit and with the conviction that what they experienced during the VI Extended General Council cannot remain merely a memory: it is called to become gestures, decisions, and actions capable of renewing the life of the Congregation.
In the words of Venerable Luis Amigó, founder of the Congregation:
“Thanks be to the Father.”
