The Province of the Mother of the Good Shepherd was established on November 9, 2016, according to Protocol No. 72 of 2016. Its patronal feast is celebrated on the Saturday of the third week of Easter. The decree of establishment came into effect upon its promulgation on December 13, 2016, on the occasion of the Assemblies held in Bogotá, Brazil, and Chile on that same date.
Consequently, in 2026 the Province is celebrating its ninth anniversary on April 25, the liturgical feast of the Mother of the Good Shepherd, on the eve of Good Shepherd Sunday.
Within the framework of this celebration, the Province commemorates the 25th, 50th, and 75th anniversaries of religious profession of the sisters who reach these milestones during the year.
This year, the celebration honored Sisters Jeannette Rocío Limas Yáñez and María Cristina Bueno Millán, who mark 25 years of consecration.
In each regional area of the Demarcation, the respective communities gather to celebrate this event. The central region met at the Santa Teresa de Jesús School in Fontibón, where the jubilee celebration of the sisters took place.
The solemn Eucharist was presided over by the diocesan priest Javier Monar and concelebrated by Father Víctor Estrada Arredondo.
On the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the passing of Saint Francis of Assisi, the Eucharist took on a Franciscan character.
Many sisters, along with their families, friends, and people close to the Province, accompanied the honored sisters.
