August 7. The sisters participating in the VI Expanded General Council began the day by renewing their commitment to be “repairers” of the world from the “public squares” that we inhabit, taking Jesus, the Good Shepherd, as their model, in order to renew and give new vitality to the Charism they have inherited.
With attentive listening and a contemplative gaze, they delved deeper into the theme: “Repairing the world: Franciscans in the ‘public square’ – Repairing our common home: mission-centered care in times of isolation.” Sr. Bilma Freire was responsible for guiding the day’s work and shedding light on the theme.
The moments of personal reflection and silence provided a space for a profound encounter with the theme. These moments were complemented by the “conversations in the Spirit” held in groups. The fruits of the “conversations in the Spirit” were subsequently shared in plenary, after which the sisters echoed the interior movements and insights experienced during the plenary session.
The Augustinian community of Posada San Agustín, with great generosity and hospitality, offered the sisters a tour of the Convent where the novitiate is located, which includes the place where the Expanded General Council is being held.
The day’s journey concluded with a first approach to the realities and challenges of the Congregation and to where the Holy Spirit is guiding its will for the Congregation. This process will continue to be explored in greater depth over the following days with the presentation of the realities of each demarcation.
