August 6, 2026. On this day of the 6th Extended General Council, the sisters began the day by joining the whole Church in celebrating the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. The sisters of the Province of Nazareth led the celebration of Morning Prayer (Lauds) and the Eucharist, inspired by the hope that sets us on our journey.
The Eucharist was presided over by Bishop José Alejandro Castaño Arbelaez, Bishop Emeritus of the Augustinian Order.
In an atmosphere of silence and a deep desire to encounter Jesus of Nazareth, the sisters observed a day of retreat led by Sister María Luisa García Casamian, Vicar General. She invited them to meditate and contemplate on the theme, «Cultivating Hope on the Journey Back,» illuminated by the Gospel passage of the Disciples on the Road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13–35).
Throughout the morning, the sisters spent time in Eucharistic Adoration, longing to listen to Jesus and allowing His love to warm their hearts once again, so that they might set out anew on the journey home with the strength that hope gives when we recognize Him as the Risen Lord, just as the disciples did in the Gospel.
In the afternoon, following the meditation, the sisters gathered to share the experiences and inspirations that the Holy Spirit had granted each one. Strengthened in hope and guided by the Word, they concluded the day by giving thanks through the singing of the Magnificat.
