August 14, 2026. Gathered in prayer, we renewed our commitment to be signs of God’s merciful love among the most vulnerable.
We began the day with the celebration of Lauds and the Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Jesús María García and animated by our sisters from the Our Lady of Divine Providence Circumscription. The spirituality inherited from Father Luis Amigó invites us to contemplate Christ the Good Shepherd, who seeks out, protects, accompanies, and tenderly cares for each person, especially those who find themselves in situations of greater vulnerability. During this time of prayer, we asked the Lord for the grace to foster a culture of care that reflects Jesus’ message in the Gospel.
With openness and attentive listening, the assembly welcomed Fr. Jesús María García, OFM Cap., a missionary in Portoviejo, Ecuador; a member of the CER Theological Reflection Team and of the CLAR Commission for the Care and Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Adults. Fr. Jesús shared with us the theme “Psycho-Spirituality of Care,” emphasizing the importance of being a person, being a minor, being spiritual, being Gospel, and being caregivers.
In harmony with the Church’s commitment to promoting the protection and safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults, we, as Capuchin Tertiary Sisters, are called to foster a culture of care in which the ministry of accompaniment becomes an integral part of our way of life and our mission.
Throughout the meeting, the sisters raised questions, shared their reflections, and sought clarification regarding the different realities and experiences related to this important topic. It was a fruitful exchange of knowledge, practices, and experiences that led us to a deeper reflection on ourselves, our lives, and the various realities that form part of them.
We concluded the day with the celebration of First Vespers of the
Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is for us a model of care, welcome, and protection.
